In view of the upcoming National Budget 2021/2022, MIPA organised a Virtual Pre-Budget Forum, in collaboration with ACCA. This event was held this Friday 9th April 2021 via Zoom Webinar, with the aim to give participants a chance to raise priority issues and discuss about their pre-budget expectations. |

While previous budgets took place against a backdrop of relatively strong and balanced domestic economic growth, the context and the environment for the current Budget is somewhat more challenging and has been developed “in the shadow of the Covid-19” Following the inaugural Budget speech by the Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, much was expected from Honourable Dr Padayachy and the measures announced to revive the Mauritian economy. It is first important to acknowledge the economic backdrop against which this financial budget was prepared. Mauritius may have been successful in limiting the health impact of the pandemic until now, yet the economic fallout will still hit the country hard. |

On the 3rd of December 2019, we were honoured to welcome the ICAEW President, Fiona Wilkinson at our office in Ebene. She was accompanied by Kate Holroyd-Smith, Head of International Business Development of ICAEW and Meghan Doyle, International Business Development Manager of ICAEW. On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between MIPA and ICAEW to reinforce our collaboration in promoting and developing the accounting profession in Mauritius. MIPA is pleased to have the invaluable support of key players in the field in reviewing and transforming education standards and providing members with greater opportunities. |
