Unlawful activities and abuse of law may occur in any sector and if they are not addressed, it can result in serious harm to public interest. In order to develop a culture of integrity, good governance and to reduce the level of unlawful practices operating in the Accountancy Sector, the Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants (MIPA) is setting up a whistleblowing platform where MIPA members and the public are invited to share any information on individuals and/or firms providing professional services without being registered with MIPA
The objective behind the setting up of the whistleblowing platform is identify unregistered practices providing professional services and to take relevant actions against them.
MIPA members and the public at large are invited to disclose any information they have on individuals and firms providing professional services without being registered with MIPA.
Only public accountants and member firms which are registered with the MIPA are allowed to provide professional services to the public and for remuneration.

Consequently, any person or firm providing professional services without being registered with MIPA shall be subject to legal action pursuant to the provisions of the Financial Reporting Act 2004. All information submitted via the whistle blowing platform will be kept strictly confidential and for the purpose of the stated objective only. MIPA reserves the right to decide whether any further actions are required. MIPA further reserves the right to request the reporting person for any additional information.
